Lighthouses from Elsie Quilts

Someone gifted me with 6 yards of lighthouse panels. I was going to cut them up and make table runners, but didn't like the way they looked. So I cut them up and put them back together with some sashing between the blocks. There was enough trim to go all the way around as an outer border. It is big, about 90" x 92" or more. Fran’s Five Patches 1, 2, Sampler from Virtual Quilter

A new selection of blocks, which is really a lot of modified versions of one block. This gives me a heap of blocks which are all based on the same grid, in this case five patch, which fit together at the outer edges, and have some features which match in the centre of the blocks.

I prefer applique to piecing, so I have added a butterfly, just because I can.

Sea Link Starr 11, 12 from Virtual Quilter

Wow!

Sometimes I am surprised at what gems I have hidden in my project files, though I find things I have hidden on the shelves of my sewing room all the time, though have difficulty finding the thing I am looking for.

I am also amazed at what happens when you play with just one block in a design … though in the second design I might have to try reversing the white and pale blue fabrics in this design.

Sunshine and Mushrooms 2, 3, 4 from Virtual Quilter

When I was teaching myself to draw applique in Electric quilt I drew some toadstools or mushrooms, and had to try them in some quilt designs.

I love the one above.

I also had fun hiding the cat amongst the sunflowers!

On the whole modern quilts don’t appeal to me a lot, but this design is almost modern, and I like it!
